Today was the start of fall camp. Yesterday the players reported to camp and go there equipment. Today was the day where the season begins for them. With a number of different intriguing things to watch for in fall camp, one of them was the return of O'Neill Chambers.

However today was the lack of return of O'Neill Chambers. First thing this morning we got this statement from BYU. "O'Neill Chambers (Sr. DB) was not invited to participate in fall camp. Coach Mendenhall indicated Chambers is not currently in good standing with the program."

This certainly was a blow to everyone, especially to the fans. Chambers came in as 3 star recruit out of Florida. He chose BYU over Maryland, South Carolina, Houston and Purdue. He fit the bill of what a lot of BYU fans would like to see; a speed receiver from the south and picking BYU over SEC, ACC and B1G schools.

He had a swagger and strong sense of confidence. He brought excitement and energy. One of the big plays BYU fans will remember from Chambers was in the Holy War game in 2009. BYU brought back the retro baby blue uniforms.

The offense could not get much going against a very tough Utah defense. After the defense stopped a Utah drive they punted to and Chambers had a career long 43 yard punt return deep in Utah territory, exciting the crowd and helping seal a BYU OT win.

Other key notes during day one of fall camp:

Alex Kuresa was moved to WR. That should tell us of his athleticism.

Max Hall was on the sideline and will be a Student Assistant.

Jordan Johnson looked very good at corner.

Coach Mendenhall openly talking about Taysom Hill and the possibility of him being used in some wildcat plays. Also saying because of his athletic ability if needed could be able to play somewhere else. To me this is a little telling because it is the first day of practice.
