Rodrigues details Oregon commitment

Oregon head coach Chip Kelly has been quoted as saying he wants his quarterback to be like a point guard; and with the wealth of talent that he has amassed, Kelly can be selective about his field generals. While it might be early in the recruiting cycle, Chip Kelly might have found the perfect point guard for his intricate offense; Jake Rodrigues.

Rodrigues, of Rocklin (Calif.), is one of the fastest rising players in the west after showcasing his skills at the Elite 11 QB Camp. Ducks Sports Authority was able to catch up with Rodrigues at Nike's The Opening in Portland and the talented signal-caller detailed his recent commitment to Oregon.

The Opening was the temporary home to the top 150 players in the nation and Rodrigues was anxious to see how he stacked up against the best players from around the country.

"It's been crazy, honestly," began Rodrigues. "Everyone is so good out here, it's new. I come from a small high school where there are no players there like there are here. I'm slowly getting use to it, it's been real fun and it's a great experience"

. DSA asked the 6'3" 210lb Rodrigues about the adjustments he had to make to be more successful against the elite group of defenders.

"I have to be quicker on my reads," explained Rodrigues. "Honestly they are so fast and it's so much different but it's slowing down as I get use to it."

Rodrigues' quick commitment to the Ducks came as a pleasent surprise to many fans, but the Oregon coaches had their eyes on the California star and made their move to secure his services as quick as possible.
