Myles Gaskin gets a surprise visitor while at school today

Today Myles Gaskin received an unexpected visitor while at school. Coach Poppinga who has started recruiting Gaskin showed up and was able to spend some time discussing his future and BYU's interest in him.

Gaskin is no stranger to college coaches coming by. Right now he holds offers from Washington and Washington State with a host of others showing lots of interest.

And why wouldn't they? This season off of 120 carries he had 2,200 rushing yards! With 34 TD's! Gaskin averaged 18.3 YPC! Against Mt Si of Snoqualmie (WA), Gaskin had 231 yards rushing and 5 TD's off of 14 carries.
"They (BYU) came by the school; it kind of surprised me because I had not talked to them in a while. They said they had two other running backs they are looking at for the 2015 class and that are looking at me and that an offer would be coming sometime soon. He said he would come back up or the running backs coach would," said Gaskin.

Gaskin said this is the first time he and Poppinga have been able to have a real good conversation, but that he really likes him and that he seems like a great coach who can easily get you fired up.

With BYU's new offensive strategy it seems Gaskin would make a great fit just like Jamaal Williams has. "The offense is real nice! I really like the hurry up, up-tempo offense," said Gaskin.

The feeling from Gaskin is that BYU and Arizona State will be the next two to offer, but he is also hearing frequently from Oregon and Oregon State. For Gaskin the coaching change at Washington for now has not really had an effect him since Coach Tuiasosopo has been his main recruiter.

As for the next steps with BYU; "right now they he said they will be looking at film and that they'll be getting back to me soon, but that most likely they'll be getting back to me with an offer." Gaskin also said that Coach Poppinga would like him to visit this winter, something that Gaskin said he wants to do and will get with Coach Poppinga to schedule.
