A few months ago, Lorenzo Fauatea in Cougar blue seemed like a pipe-dream. He was committed to Oregon State and was set to join Gary Andersen's team. He had a change of heart, opened up his recruitment and it opened the door for BYU to swoop in and pick up one of the best defensive players in the state of Utah.

Fauatea is a big and athletic defensive lineman. During the Polynesian Bowl, you saw that athleticism on display when he made a diving interception in coverage. Seriously, a diving interception from the defensive line. It was an impressive play and that's the kind of player that BYU is getting.

Fauatea could put on some weight and become an athletic defensive tackle or he could stay slim and be a very good strongside defensive end. Whichever position he plays, he's going to be bring a violence and aggressiveness to the BYU defensive line that it sorely needs. He's a great player and a better kid. He's one you should be excited about, BYU fans.
