While on an unofficial visit to Wake Forest, former BYU star Derwin Gray (who was with his son, Jeremiah 2019 prospect) saw a gentleman in a BYU sweatshirt and approached the man. That man was Tanner Baker’s father and they started chatting about BYU.

One thing led to another and Gray gave Baker contact info for the current coaching staff and the lines of communication opened up from there.

Baker recently graduated from high school last month and is expecting to enroll at BYU when second term begins of this current semester on March 2nd, which would make Baker eligible for spring football.

The plan right now if for Baker to play tight end, but he could eventually switch to defensive end.

Baker does have mission plans and will be serving after the 2017 season.
