BYU hosts No. 22 St. Mary's

It’s senior night and the final home game of the season for BYU. It’s the first time I can think of it being senior night and there won’t be any seniors playing. St. Mary comes in to knock off the cougars again. Gaels junior center Jock Landale leads the team with averaging 17 points a game. SMU has the second best defense in the country. They are giving up 56.3 points a game. One question is will BYU’s offense be able to score? With the hit or miss offense we have seen this year it will be a difficult for them against Gaels defense.

We saw a great glimpse of how good Nick Emery can be when he catches fire. The starting five played has played well offensively the last few games but the bench has nowhere to be found the last two games. They have scored only 3 points off the bench the last two games. That is concerning stat to think about. Someone has to step up to provide for the team off the bench. Games won’t be won if the bench doesn’t help contribute.

Foul trouble was an issue again on Thursday. Both TJ Haws and Nick Emery fouled out of the game. Yoeli Childs had 4. I anticipate it to be cleaned up tonight.

They must spread the ball around like they did in the game against USD. Get the ball inside to Mika and Childs to open up the floor. BYU’s offense is at its best when Mika gets his game going. Yoeli is playing great as well.

With the home crowd advantage it should help them to feed off that energy. It will be a fun environment with it being the last home game of the year. Will the boys in blue bring it one last time for the home crowd or be sent packing?
