BYU offers 2017 prospect Kesi Ah-hoy out of Kahuku

BYU football has deep roots going back to Kahuku High in Laie, Hawaii. Two of the current coaches come from Kahuku, Coaches Mark Atuaia and offensive coordinator Robert Anae. Along with those two have been a number of BYU football stars who have come from the school on the small island.
Kesi Ah-Hoyis a 2017 prospect who earlier in the summer spoke with Coach Atuaia at a football camp in Mililani. Not much was said, other than Coach Atuaia saying they will keep an eye out.

A month ago Ah-hoy started hearing a lot more from BYU, two weeks after that BYU got serious. "Coach Atuaia messaged me and told me that Coach Mendenhall was excited to talk to me and that I should call him after church. So after church I went to pick up my mom and sister at the airport so we could be as a family when I called him…He introduced himself and then asked me some questions about what I know about the school and if I knew the expectations and all the standards. I really didn't know a lot about it, so he explained it to me and then extended me the offer," said Ah-hoy.
There was a lot of happiness and excitement that day from the Ah-hoy family. At the same time Ah-hoy stayed humble, saying it is just the beginning and he needs to keep working.
Right now Ah-hoy is hearing from BYU and Cal, but would love to see offers come in from USC, UCLA, Oregon and Oregon State. Oregon State is a team who grew up cheering for since he had a sister play volleyball there and his Al Afalava played football there.
When asked if all those offers came in how would BYU compare, Ah-hoy had this to say, "Their chances would be high because they are a Mormon school and I am a Mormon. I am trying to go to a school where I fit in best and where I will be most comfortable. At BYU most everyone is Mormon and so I know I would get along with most everyone."
Ah-hoy was a waterboy for the high school team when he was younger said he remembers watching BYU commits Shiloh Te'o and Jray Galea'i.
BYU is recruiting Ah-hoy as a RB. BYU has also offered his teammate and 2016 prospect Hirkley Latu.
