BYU recruit Marcel Brown watches his first college football game at LaVell Edwards Stadium

Another recruit sees his first college football game live at LaVell Edwards Stadium. Jeremiah Ieremia was the other we reported about who committed to BYU last night. This time it is Rio Linda (CA) running back Marcel Brown who travelled with a friend from the Mormon church to watch the Cougars beat Virginia.
Brown who we wrote about a few weeks ago became interested in BYU while he was meeting with Mormon missionaries and preparing to be baptized into the Mormon faith. BYU quickly got involved in his recruitment sending letters and sending Coach Anae to watch him live on a Friday night. Though BYU has not offered, they welcomed a visit from him.

"The energy was crazy, the way the crowd was giving off energy and the team was hyped to play and it was everything that I expected. It was my first college football game and so it was everything I thought it would be like," said Brown.
This being Brown's first visit to the state of Utah and BYU; it definitely was a good first impression. "It was a great atmosphere, it seemed like everyone around was happy and I really liked it. Surprisingly there were a few fans who knew who I was and that they saw my film and they would love see me play football for BYU," said Brown.
Right now BYU has four offers to running backs. Charles West, LeVonte Owens and Patrick Carr all from Texas, and Elias Miller from Las Vegas who was also at the BYU v Virginia game. With four running backs with offers it will be interesting to see if and when Brown gets an offer from BYU. Last week Carr listed TCU and Arkansas as his favorites. If Carr choose excludes BYU this may be the open scholarship that gets extended to Brown.
Brown had to hurry from his flight to get to the game and so was not able to spend time talking to players or coaches like he had hoped. He did meet with recruiting coordinator Geoff Martzen as soon as he arrived and said that Martzen told him that he really liked his film and that he was great to watch.
One thing is for sure, BYU's first college gameday experience for Brown, made a good impression. "The whole game I was thinking to myself that BYU was gonna win the game. The crowd and the whole game atmosphere, everything about it was awesome. I have been to an NFL game before and college football is way more exciting than NFL games… After the game we walked around the campus and went to the bookstore and I was able to get some BYU gear and then the next day we flew back," said Brown.
Brown currently holds offers from Arizona, Arkansas State, Eastern Washington, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, San Jose State, Utah, Washington, Weber St. and Wyoming.
