Jeremiah Ieremia shares about his experience at his first college football game

A college football game is such a fun experience, the pageantry, the tradition, the crowd and student section! Jeremiah Ieremia who is closer to college football than most of us will ever get. He gets calls from college coaches across the country, they come to his football games, they invite him to their camps and tell them all about their campus and football team.
This last week Ieremia experienced a first though, his first college football game as he watched BYU beat Virginia in Lavell Edwards Stadium. This was an unofficial visit for Ieremia as he was drove the four hour drive in state with Corey Edwards' mom and dad, Edwards the grand nephew of legendary coach Lavell Edwards and current true freshman place kicker. Edwards who also is from and played for Hurricane.

"We went to the recruits luncheon, it was good to sit down with other commits and recruits and chatting with them. I like Dayan Lake, he's a funny kid; I like him. I talked to Riley Burt and Gabe Reid; Gabe Reid is a good friend of mine and Devin Kaufusi, I love that dude...It was a great! It was my college game. The whole atmosphere was great. Watching it on TV it is a lot different. It was a great experience, I feel very blessed to have been able to go. We had great seats, right by the field and right by the players," said Ieremia.
Along with being able to be around fellow recruits, Ieremia was also able to spend some time with current players. "I got to hang out with Michael Alisa and Fred (Warner). I got to spend the night hanging with them, and it was fun chillin with them," said Ieremia who had some questions going into the game. "I got to in the locker room and experience that. I wanted to see what it was like, how does the locker room go down? What is Coach Mendenhall's talk like? How is the celebration after? It was like our high school, when we win a game; we go in the locker room and celebrate. It was just like that, but it was better than winning a high school game. It was different, but a good one. It was better."
Ieremia is getting close to making his decision. Though he has not named any clear favorites, Ieremia said he would like to make a decision within a month. Once a BYU a commit Ieremia backed off wanting to be able to enjoy the recruiting process and see how it plays out, something he and his family decided together.
Right now Ieremia has offers from Boise State, BYU, Oregon State, Washington and Utah State and still hearing frequently from USC. "I still hear from Coach Sirmon and Tuiasosopo, I am not sure what their plans are with me so we will just have to wait and see," said Ieremia.
For Ieremia major factor on where he decides to go is education. Ieremia plans on majoring in sports med and understands how important it is to get a good education now for life after football. Overall the BYU experience and game was an experience he wont forget, being his first college football game. "After this visit it definitely increased my perspective on BYU. Every time I go up there I feel the love. It's just a blessing to even have this attention from the coaches," said Ieremia.
