MacIntyre on CSU's zero week game: 'It gives them a huge advantage'

Oregon State and Colorado State were originally scheduled to face off in Fort Collins on September 23, but the date was moved up to August 26. This was decided back in March.

With moving the game up to what's being called the "zero week" the Rams are able to open their season by playing against a Pac-12 school on CBS Sports Network.

Colorado's first game of the season is the Friday following the Rams' matchup with the Beavers, and CU head coach Mike MacIntyre noted at Thursday's practice that this concerned him.

"I'm concerned that CSU plays OSU before [CSU plays] us," MacIntyre explained. "I wish I would have known that a long time ago. We would've made a zero week game. I think that gives them a big advantage - at least in the beginning of the game, for sure."

With Colorado State having a game under their belt and going through their second game week, MacIntyre wants his squad to come out ready to go.

"We'll have to find a way to get the tempo of the game," said MacIntyre. "We'll probably scrimmage a little bit more than we have in the past to try to get that there. Hopefully, we'll be able to come out of the gates fast. But [CSU playing OSU on week zero] gives them a huge advantage to me, so I'm concerned about that."

The Rocky Mountain Showdown is on September 1 and can be seen on the Pac-12 Network. The game kicks off at 6pm MT.
